Irène left Côte d’Ivoire in 2010 for Tunisia to fulfil her dream. She returned to Côte d’Ivoire in December 2018 after eight years in Tunisia.
When I left Côte d’Ivoire, I expected to discover the perfect Eldorado, but reality quickly caught up with me. In Tunisia, I worked as a cleaner to survive. It was really difficult for me to live alone away from my family.
I finally returned to Côte d’Ivoire. Back home, my family supported me and IOM assisted me in setting up my project, which allowed me to hold my head high again. Today, I am the owner of an educational centre, in a childcare facility. The centre is called “Garderie grâce divine d’Adzopé” and the service I offer to parents includes taking care of their children during their absence. They can be reassured as I am qualified for this job with several years of experience in Tunisia.
The Ministry of Education recommends that we have around 30 children. In this centre, we will enable them to develop their consciousness, work as a team, and learn to work by hand.
Today, I am satisfied because my dream has come true, I know that in the years to come it will be even better.
